Rice Upma Recipe
Rice upma is south Indian breakfast recipe called as akki thari uppittu. Rice upma is a tasty and healthy breakfast recipe. Mostly upma is made with semolina means upma rice but today we are making the upma with idli rice (rice rava).
Ingredients
- ½ cup of rice rava
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tbsp of peanuts
- ½ tsp of split bengal gram
- ½ tsp of split black gram
- 3-4 green chillies
- ¼ tsp of mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp of cumin seeds powder
- Salt to taste

- Oil
Procedure:-
- Turn on the gas and keep the pan on gas.
- Add rice rava and ½ tsp of oil.
- Roast the rice rava on medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
- Take out the roasted rice rava in a plate.
- Add 1 tbsp of oil.
- When the oil is heated, add peanuts and fry it.
- Take out the fried peanuts in a bowl.
- Add Bengal gram, black gram and saute it.
- Add mustard seeds.
- When the mustard seeds crackle, add cumin seeds.
- Add curry leaves and saute it.
- Add chopped onion and mix it.
- Add chopped green chillies and saute it well.
- Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
- Add salt to taste and mix it.
- Cover the pan with lid and cook it for 2 minutes.
- Add roasted rava and mix it well.
- Reduce the flame.
- Add chopped coriander leaves and roasted peanuts.
- Mix it well.
- Cover the pan and cook it for 5 minutes on low flame.
- Open the lid carefully.
- Mix it well.
- Serve the rice upma in a plate and garnish with fresh coriander.
- Tasty and delicious rice upma is ready.
