Dum Aloo Recipe

Dam aloo or Baby Potato Curry is a simple and one of the most delicious recipe. We can make it in Punjabi Style, Bengali Style, Kashmiri Style or Home Style. But today, we’re making this Indian Curry in Kashmiri Style. Try it out in your kitchen & share with us how it goes for you!

Ingredients

  • 8-9 baby potatoes
  • ½ cup of tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp of cashew nuts powder
  • 1 tbsp of ginger- garlic paste
  • ½ tsp of turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp of cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp of coriander powder
  • ½ tsp of cumin seeds powder
  • 2 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of garam Masala
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp of mustard oil
  • coriander leaves

Procedure:

  1. Wash the potatoes well.
  2. Add 2-3 cups of water in a pressure cooker and drop the potatoes in it.
  3. Cook potatoes on medium flame until 2 whistles. Do not overcook.
  4. Peel the potatoes and prick it with the help of fork.
  5. Heat a pan.
  6. Add 1 tsp of oil.
  7. When the oil is heated, add ½ tsp of turmeric powder and mix it.
  8. Add boiled potatoes and fry it on medium flame for 1 minute.
  9. Take out the potatoes.
  10. Add 1 tsp of mustard oil in a same pan.
  11. Heat the oil well.
  12. Add cumin seeds.
  13. Add ginger garlic paste and saute it.
  14. Reduce the flame.
  15. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, cashew nuts powder and mix it well.
  16. Add tomato puree and mix it well.
  17. Cook it on medium flame until oil comes out.
  18. Add potatoes and mix it.
  19. Add salt to taste, garam masala and mix it well.
  20. Add water as required and mix.
  21. Boil it.
  22. Cover the pan with lid and cook it for 10-15 minutes on low flame.
  23. After 15 minutes, open the lid and mix it well.
  24. Turn off the flame.
  25. Add fresh coriander leaves and mix it.
  26. Serve the hot dum aloo in a serving bowl.
  27. Enjoy the dam aloo with naan, roti, rice etc.
