Bharawa Turai
Today I am sharing a very simple and delicious Maharashtrian style ridge gourd masala recipe. It is made with peanuts, we don’t need onions and tomatoes but, if you like onion and tomato you can use. It is a very quick and tasty recipe. For this recipe we don’t need extra ingredients.
Ingredients
- 150 gm of ridge gourd
- 2 tbsp of roasted peanuts powder
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1 inch ginger
- 2-3 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp of dry coconut
- ½ tsp of mustard seeds
- ½ tsp of cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp of kashmiri red chilli powder (or 1 tsp of hot chilli powder)
- ½ tsp of turmeric powder
- ½ tsp of goda masala (i use homemade goda masala)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp of oil
Procedure :
- Peel the ridge gourd and cut into small pieces.
- Slightly cut on one side like a plus.
- Grind the garlic, ginger, coconut and coriander in the grinder but don’t add water while grinding.
- Keep the pan on flame and add oil.
- When the oil is heated, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
- Add grated ginger-garlic-coconut paste and fry it on medium for a minute.
- Keep the flame on low intensity.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, goda masala, salt and mix it quickly.
- Add peanut powder and mix. Don’t burn.
- Add ½ cup of water and cook the masala for 1-2 minutes on low flame.
- Turn off the flame and fill the masala into the ridge gourd pieces.
- Keep the ridge gourd pieces in the plate.
- Add 1 glass of water in the pan or add as you required.
- Boil it on medium flame.
- Add ridge gourd pieces and cook them for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
- Mix gently and keep the lid on the pan.
- Cook the ridge gourd curry on low flame for 15-20 minutes.
- Turn off the flame and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve.
- Enjoy this spicy maharashtrian ridge gourd masala with roti, bhakari or rice.
