Bharwa Karela With Curry Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2-3 bitter gourd
  • ½ cup of roasted peanut
  • dry coconut as required
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch ginger
  • ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 ½ tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of garam Masala
  • cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp of tamarind juice
  • jaggery
  • coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • oil

Procedure:-

  1. Wash and cut the bitter gourd into small pieces measuring 2 inches.
  2. Then cut from one side only.
  3. Remove the seeds.
  4. Add enough water and 1 tsp of salt in a big bowl.
  5. Add cut bitter gourd pieces in this salty water.
  6. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  7. Take a grinder jar.
  8. Add roasted peanut, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves and dry coconut in a grinder jar and grind it into smooth mixture.
  9. You can add water and grind it.
  10. Heat a pan and add 1 tbsp of oil.
  11. Add cumin seeds.
  12. When the cumin seeds crackle, add grated masala and mix it.
  13. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and mix it.
  14. Add ½ cup of water and mix it.
  15. Cook it on medium flame until oil comes out.
  16. Keep the low flame.
  17. Add cooked masala into cut bitter gourd with the help of spoon.
  18. Put this stuffed bitter gourd aside in the same pan.
  19. In same way, stuff all bitter gourds.
  20. Mix it gently.
  21. Add required water for cooking and mix.
  22. Add garam masala and mix it.
  23. Cover the pan and cook it for 10-12 minutes on low flame.
  24. Bharwa karela is ready to eat.
  25. Take out the bharwa karela in a serving plate.
  26. Enjoy the bharwa karela with roti, naan.
