Masoor Ki Dal Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of red lentils
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomatoes
  • ½ tsp of cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp of mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp of ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp of tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of garam masala
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • coriander leaves
  • curry leaves
  • salt
  • oil

Procedure:

  1. Wash the red lentils.
  2. Turn on the gas and keep the pressure cooker on it.
  3. Add 2 or 2 ½ cups of water in the pressure cooker.
  4. Add red lentils and salt to taste.
  5. Close the lid.
  6. Cook it up to 4-5 whistles on medium flame.
  7. Open the lid carefully.
  8. Heat a pan.
  9. Add 2 tsp of oil.
  10. Add muster seeds. When the muster seeds crackle, add cumin seeds.
  11. Add curry leaves.
  12. Add chopped onion and cook it on medium flame until it turns golden.
  13. Add chopped tomatoes and mix it well.
  14. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida (hing).
  15. Mix it well and cook it on low-medium flame until oil comes out.
  16. Add cooked red lentils (Masoor Dal) and mix it.
  17. Add water as required and mix it.
  18. Add salt to taste, garam masala and coriander leaves.
  19. Mix it well.
  20. Cook it on low flame for 4-5 minutes.
  21. Stir it.
  22. Serve the tasty masoor dal in a serving bowl.
  23. Enjoy masoor dal with rice, roti etc.
