Dal Baingan Recipe
Ingredients
- 4-5 small brinjal
- 2 tbsp of split bengal gram
- 2 tbsp of roasted peanut powder
- ½ tsp of mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp of ginger- garlic paste
- ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
- ½ tsp of coriander-cumin seeds powder
- ½ tsp of garam masala
- 1 tbsp of red chilli powder
- salt to taste
- curry leaves
- coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp of oil
Procedure:
- Wash and soak the split bengal gram for 3-4 hours.
- Wash and cut the brinjal into small pieces and keep in the water.
- Heat a pan.
- Add 1 tbsp of oil.
- When the oil is heated, add mustard seeds.
- When the mustard seeds crackle, reduce the flame.
- Add curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and saute it.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, red chilli powder, peanuts powder, chopped coriander leaves.
- Saute it on low flame.
- Add soaked split bengal gram, brinjal pieces and mix it.
- Cook it for 1 minute on low flame.
- Add 1 cup of water and mix it well.
- If you want curry, you can add more water.
- Add salt to taste garam masala and mix it.
- Boil it.
- Reduce the flame.
- Cover the lid and cook it for 10 minutes on low flame.
- After 10 minutes, open the lid carefully and mix it well.
- Serve the dal baingan in serving bowl and garnish with coriander.
