Dal Baingan Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4-5 small brinjal
  • 2 tbsp of split bengal gram
  • 2 tbsp of roasted peanut powder
  • ½ tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp of ginger- garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp of coriander-cumin seeds powder
  • ½ tsp of garam masala
  • 1 tbsp of red chilli powder
  • salt to taste

  • coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp of oil

Procedure:

  1. Wash and soak the split bengal gram for 3-4 hours.
  2. Wash and cut the brinjal into small pieces and keep in the water.
  3. Heat a pan.
  4. Add 1 tbsp of oil.
  5. When the oil is heated, add mustard seeds.
  6. When the mustard seeds crackle, reduce the flame.
  7. Add curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and saute it.
  8. Add turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, red chilli powder, peanuts powder, chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Saute it on low flame.
  10. Add soaked split bengal gram, brinjal pieces and mix it.
  11. Cook it for 1 minute on low flame.
  12. Add 1 cup of water and mix it well.
  13. If you want curry, you can add more water.
  14. Add salt to taste garam masala and mix it.
  15. Boil it.
  16. Reduce the flame.
  17. Cover the lid and cook it for 10 minutes on low flame.
  18. After 10 minutes, open the lid carefully and mix it well.
  19. Serve the dal baingan in serving bowl and garnish with coriander.
  20. Our tasty and simple dal baingan subzi is ready.
