Prawns recipe - kerala style
Kerala Style Prawns is a delicious and flavorful dish that is made using prawns, a variety of spices, and coconut milk. Here is a recipe that you can follow to make it at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and sauté until the raw smell goes away.
- Add the tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and sauté until the tomatoes turn mushy.
- Add the prawns and sauté until they turn pink.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the prawns are cooked through.
- Stir in the cilantro and season with salt to taste.
- Serve the Kerala Style Prawns with steamed rice or appam.
