Prawns recipe - kerala style

Kerala Style Prawns is a delicious and flavorful dish that is made using prawns, a variety of spices, and coconut milk. Here is a recipe that you can follow to make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions:

  • Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and sauté until the raw smell goes away.
  • Add the tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and sauté until the tomatoes turn mushy.
  • Add the prawns and sauté until they turn pink.
  • Pour in the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the prawns are cooked through.
  • Stir in the cilantro and season with salt to taste.
  • Serve the Kerala Style Prawns with steamed rice or appam.
