Palak Khichadi Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup of rice
- ⅓ cup of split green gram (moong dal)
- ¼ cup of split pigeon peas(Toor Dal)
- 50 gm spinach leaves
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tomato finely chopped
- 2 green chillies
- ½ tsp of mustard seeds
- ½ tsp of cumin seeds
- ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
- ½ tsp of garam masala
- 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp of chopped garlic
- 3-4 dry red chillies
- 1 tbsp of ghee
- 1 tbsp of oil
Procedure:
- Take a mixing bowl.
- Add rice, moong dal, toor dal in a bowl.
- Add enough water and wash it well.
- Take pressure cooker.
- Add washed dal and rice in the pressure cooker.
- Add 1 ½ cup of water, ½ tsp of salt, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder in it.
- Mix it well.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and keep on flame.
- Cook it on medium flame until 3 whistles.
- Let it cool down.
- Wash the spinach leaves.
- Add spinach leaves in a grinder jar.
- Add 3-4 tbsp of water in it and grind it into smooth paste.
- Keep the pan on flame.
- Add 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
- When the oil is heated, add ½ tsp of mustard seeds.
- Add ½ tsp of cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion, 2 green chillies and mix it.
- Cook it on medium flame until onion turns golden in colour.
- Add 1 tsp of ginger-garlic paste and mix.
- Add chopped tomatoes and mix it.
- Cook it on low-medium flame till tomatoes become soft.
- Add spinach puree and mix it.
- Add salt to taste, ½ tsp of garam masala and mix well.
- Cover the pan with lid and cook it on medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add cooked dal-rice and mix everything well.
- Add water as required (1 cup of) and mix well.
- Cover the pan with lid and cook it on low flame for 5 minutes.
- Our palak khichadi is ready.
- Keep the tadka pan on flame.
- Add 1 tbsp of ghee a pan.
- When the ghee is heated, add dry red chilli, chopped garlic.
- Fry it until garlic turns golden brown.
- Pour the prepared tadka on the top of khichadi and mix it.
- Serve the palak khichadi in a serving bowl.
