Misal Pav Recipe

Misal pav is a typical Maharashtrian recipe. It is very popular in Pune, Mumbai and Kolhapur. It is very tasty and spicy.

Ingredients

  • Moth Beans
  • Sprouted green gram
  • Sprouted black gram
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • Dried coconut as required
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp of cumin seeds powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of misal masala
  • coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • Farsan
  • Oil

Procedure:-

  1. Turn on the flame and keep the pan on gas.
  2. Add dry coconut and fry it for 1 minute.
  3. Take it out. Add 1 tsp of oil and add chopped onion.
  4. Fry the onion on medium flame until it turns golden brown.
  5. Add ginger, garlic and chopped tomatoes.
  6. Cook it for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
  7. Take it out in a plate and let it cool down.
  8. Grind it into smooth paste.
  9. Add 2 tsp of oil in same pan.
  10. Add sprouted beans, salt to taste and mix it.
  11. Cover the pan and cook it for 1-2 minutes on low flame.
  12. Add ½ cup of water and mix it.
  13. Cover the pan and cook it for 4-5 minutes on low flame.
  14. Take out the cooked sprouted beans in a plate
  15. Add 2 tbsp of oil in same pan.
  16. Reduce the flame.
  17. Add turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder, coriander powder and mix it.
  18. Add onion tomato paste and mix it well.
  19. Add red chilli powder, missal masala and mix it well.
  20. Cook it on low-medium flame until oil comes out.
  21. Add water as required and mix it.
  22. Add salt to taste and mix it.
  23. Boil it. Cover the pan with lid and cook it for 5-6 minutes on low flame.
  24. Curry is ready for missal.
  25. Take a serving bowl.
  26. Give the layer.
  27. Add cooked sprouted beans then add chopped onion, coriander, farsan.
  28. Add curry on the top of the farsan in a bowl.
  29. Missal is ready to eat.
  30. Serve the missal with soft bun (pav), lemon and chopped onion.
