Neer Dosa

Neer dosa is a very tasty and gluten free recipe for healthy breakfast. It’s made with rice. We need very few ingredients to make neer dosa. Neer dosa is known as Ghavan in maharashtra (Kokan). Neer dosa is very soft and thin just like a net but the taste is awesome. We can serve the neer dosa with chutney or pickle but,  in Maharashtra people serve this dosa with sweet coconut milk. They add some jaggery and cardamom powder in the coconut milk and serve neer dosa ( ghavan ) with it.

Preparation time : 15 minutes.

Cooking time : 20 minutes.

Serves : 10-12 dosas

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice (any type of rice)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Procedure:

  1. Take the rice in a bowl.
  2. Add water in it and wash rice for 3-4 times.
  3. Add 2 cups of water in the rice and cover it with the help of lid or plate.
  4. Keep it aside for 4-5 hours for soaking.
  5. After 5 hours, drain the excess water from the rice.
  6. Take grinder jar and add soaked rice in grinder jar.
  7. Add ½ cup of water in it and grind it into smooth paste.
  8. Take out the rice paste (batter) in a big bowl.
  9. Add 3 cups of water in the batter and mix well.
  10. Cover the bowl with lid and keep it aside for 30 minutes. You can make it soon but when you rest the batter for few minutes, dosa will become very nice and non sticky.
  11. Mix the batter well.
  12. Add salt to taste and mix it well.
  13. Keep the flat pan on the flame.
  14. When the pan is heated, grease the pan with oil.
  15. Mix dosa batter and pour the batter on pan with the help of spoon.
  16. Make very thin layer of the dosa.
  17. Cook dosa for few minutes on medium flame then flip it.
  18. Take out dosa in a plate. Don’t fold dosa when hot. You can fold it after few seconds.
  19. Mix the batter everytime to make dosa.
  20. Make all dosas in a similar way.
  21. Serve soft and tasty neer dosa with any type of chutney or sambar.
